It was late night, by the time Lia got free to read the diary that she found in Kale's hand this morning. She sat in the dim light of the lamp on her work table in her room, her favourite place where she sat in her world of silence. No one use to disturb her until she completed her work, though the door stayed open, not even Kale. Like a flashback the diary started.....
Ellie entered banging the door of the cabin office, with a loud noise " I am not going to work here, this is just disgusting, it can't go on, the Yourera rehabilitation centre isn't my responsibility."
Sarah turned towards her somewhat shocked at Ellie's sudden loud voice and angry mood in the early hours of work.
"What happened dear the early morning. You were not in the cabin when I checked in. By the way I have kept your coffee at your desk. So cool down a little, have your coffee and tell me what happened."
Ellie was in no mood of lowering down her voice and started again" Is it my work to see that everyone and everything is on schedule. Do I handle the work of planning the centre's whole day agenda."
"No dear, it's my work, why what happened?
"Had a little heated argument with our head, Dr. Brian. Someone had dropped ink on the organiser at the reception that also on our favourite sir's page. Just because I reached there to check mine, the blame lies on me."
" Oh my, then what happened " "Nothing much, some of his patients standing there had a party seeing the scene of our war. I think they got the sense of the argument and were more happy knowing that he wouldn't attend them in time today" Hearing this Sarah ran towards the door. "Hey! wait, what happened?" asked Ellie, surprised at Sarah's sudden hurry.
"Today is the board of directors meeting with the hospital doctors regarding the administration. The President, Mr Mailo is here since morning waiting in his office for Dr. Brian. And if he hasn't seen the organiser that means he has no knowledge about his appointment with him." said Sarah as quickly and in short as she could pausing at the door for a minute, then hurriedly ran towards Dr. Brian's cabin.
Thankfully Sarah found him in his cabin itself. "May I come in" she asked.
"Yes Sarah, please do come in"
" Good morning! I just came to know through Ellie that you haven't been able to check the organiser today, so I came to inform you that Mr. Mailo is waiting for you in his office as you have an appointment with him this morning and after that you would be attending the board of directors meeting. He has to told you to get all the important files with you as he wants to cross check it before the meeting."
" Thanks Sarah I will see what has to be done. Thanks for informing."
She smiled and left
The Rehabilitation Centre
In the afternoon Sarah again bumped into Dr. Brian outside the centre's mess. "Oops sorry!" "It's fine" "How did your meeting go?" "The meeting went as usual, nothing special about it. But thanks for informing me in time" "No problem, that's my duty. Do you have time, needed to talk to you for a few minutes" "Ya, I haven't had my lunch so we could have it together" They both ordered for sandwichs and coffee. They talked while they waited for their order. "Say what you wanted to tell me" "I came to know about your misunderstanding with Ellie this morning" "Which one about that organiser? " " Hmmm.. actually it wasn't her fault. The receptionist has gone on a pregnancy leave and one of the attendents would be handling her work. She is completely new at her work so Ellie just came there to give her some instructions as well as take some of the articles that the receptionist left back before she went for a leave. It was a coincidence that you both were there at the same time maybe that caused a misunderstanding. I have told to check the camera to know what caused the problem. I felt you should know all this as you both work together on most of the cases. I don't think that such small issue should make both of you uncomfortable." "Never mind Sarah, there was a language and accent problem on both of our side. I will see to it that the issue doesn't become a problem. Anything else?" "Na that's all" "Tell your aunt that Frank has improved a lot and much cooperative now. I think he would be discharged sooner than I thought. How's your consulting going?" They talked till they completed their lunch then went back to join their respective work.
Dr. Brian went up to Ellie's cabin to meet her. She was at her desk, checking some files on the desktop. She turned around at the sound of footsteps just to be surprised by the sudden kiss and a hug from Dr. Brian. "Was this needed after the morning scenerio at the reception" "Ya ofcourse when you miss your fiancee during the whole day's work" he said still with his arms wrapped around her. "That was because I wasn't free today, with too many cases to attend." "Ok and I thought you got I'll with me for the morning argument so I just came by to apologise" said he taking out a flower from his back pant pocket. " This is all I could get from the garden near my window. "Anyways thank you for such an expensive gift" Just then the cabin's phone rang... "Ellie, do you know where is Dr. Brian?" "Ya, he is here I will give the reciever to him" "Say Sarah what happened?" "The patient in room 45 has tried to harm himself. It's an emergency and you are needed immediately there" "I will be there right now", saying he gave the reciever to Ellie and left. "Do you need me" "No dear, you weren't free the whole day so better go back and take rest. I will send someone to call you if I need you" Saying he kept down the reciever.
YOURERA
Life became quite busy for the next few months with the start of the fall season, as the patients mostly preferred this time of the year. It continued mostly until winter unless if any of the patients needed to stay for a bit longer period of time. All from my first date with Frank, his discharge and a surprise proposal was all that I treasured till now. I and Frank would be officially wedded soon, and now it's time for me to leave the premises of your era to enter a new life. Will be missing Ellie and our three years of friendship. She entered as a junior but will be entering her senior position soon. Quite a hard working person but more than that a loving cooperative colleague and one of the best persons in my life. Hope to see a future without all of these that have been a part of parcel of my present. I pray that nothing of all these blessings may ever go out of my life. Busy now in my wedding arrangements, while waiting for some more good to come.....
Get together
Second day after my wedding at my marital home. I couldn't believe it Frank bought the house where he proposed me, that made it easy for me to attend my job till I could. He shifted his business here and went on weekends to check the work at his main office, which meant I would spend my weekends with aunt Sandrea or she would be here with me.
But today the main dilemma for me was that, I had to prepare the lunch for Frank's family and my family. Even some of his friends were going to present and I had no idea what to prepare for the lunch. Thankfully Ellie and Brian were on time, thelp me prep up for the somewhat banquet, that also within an hour and half. Frank and Brian started with the cutting of the vegetables till I and Ellie put up the pie and the bread in the oven. Then the soup was on to the stove along with the rice. The men put together the starters, the salad and the drinks and work went on at a right speed.
By the time the guests arrived the group had put up a great show which I had never imagined. Thankfully they saved me from the embarrassing moment in front of my new near and dear ones. Happy to have the best family and friends I could ever have, if I had a choice of another life I would choose them if everytime I had the right to select my life. Both the families stayed back for the next few days with us.
I would be joining my job after a month so until then Ellie would be taking care of my work and Dr. Brian would be handling his work alone, all by himself. So this is how my journey of marital life started......
Life wasn't easy as I thought it would be, handling my married life along with the work life. I felt it was better to learn how to handle my new responsibilities before giving importance to work. So taking the first step towards learning I left my job after two months of wedding or to put it in better words, I took a long leave from the work. Days went by as if like quick breeze, teaching me everyday a new lesson to follow, to implement and to mend my old ways. That's when I came to know that I was expecting I new member in the family.
Frank as usual spend his weekends in the city but would be right back by Monday noon. As usual he came back on Monday noon surprised to see everyone at home at that time. Too tired to sit and talk, he first preferred to get fresh and went to his room after wishing everyone. Entering his room, he was surprised to find a pair of baby socks with a note attached, "SEE YOU SOON DAD" reading it he understood the meaning of the whole gathering at his home today. "Congratulations dad" all shouted as he ran down the staircase. Still a little taken aback hearing the good news, he called and ordered for the best sweets in the town. The whole day spent in taking advice about how to become the best future parents.
Responsibilities had increased but it brought along a double amount of happiness with it. Everyone gave me company alternatively for the next one year, even Ellie once in a while as her schedule was now even more tougher. She tried to turn up as and when she got a leave from work or atleast would call up to check in my health. If that wasn't enough, she would post a letter whenever possible. One such letter came in this morning. As I opened it, the first lines brought the best smile I had in months. It read, "You won't believe it Sarah, I and Brian are tying the knot next month...."
Finally he is ready to get a little time from his hectic life and is ready for the dee day. I don't know if there is going to be any romance in this magical wedding story but I am happy to share my life with someone who shares the same thoughts as mine. Let alone be the ambitions, I just hope the dreams, the hopes and the understanding go hand in hand. I know it's not going to be easy to become a better half of an extremely hectic man, but still in someway my heart says nothing can make my life more beautiful than him. Till the last day of my life Sarah, I pray God looks after every small and big blunders in my life and help me get along in the same way as he does during my job. It hasn't been easy since you left, we get into arguments every now and then, but it doesn't effect our work because we both need each other. So understanding finds its route between us and the work goes on without grudges. Need to tell you everything about it but didn't have time to meet you in person so last night I wrote this letter...
