Aunt Sandrea was cooking when they reached home

"We have a guest for dinner aunt, if you don't mind"

"No not all, officer Carlos is most welcome but am sure he has come here with investigation matters"

"You are right Mrs. Sandrea I would ask you some questions quickly, I know you won't be free right now or else we will meet tomorrow"

"No no it's completely fine, you can continue with your investigation"

"Sarah told me that Dr. Brian's brother had appointed the wedding planners. Would you tell me about the wedding plan and the planners?"

"The wedding planners had come a week before the murder to get the details about the venue that is about how Ellie and Brian had thought of organising the function at the centre grounds. I think Brian had given them an entire plan of the centre's infrastructure. They were going to come on the day of murder to discuss about the wedding rehearsals but due to some unknown reasons they couldn't and I have no idea about that reason, maybe Brian knows about it"

"Is his brother's company a successful business hub and is he married"

"Ya it should be cause he organises international events also and he is not married cause his brother had thought of marrying his girlfriend on the same date but the venue didn't suited him so he cancelled it"

"what else do you know about him?"

"Not much cause I haven't met him ever, I know nothing more than that what Brian has told about his brother. He felt very confident about his brother handling the entire wedding ceremony but as I said Devin never came here, instead he send his two planners who came a week before the wedding to take all the details about the wedding and the centre's venue where the wedding was to take place. It's Brian who said that his brother wished to get married on the same day but the venue was a problem for his guests. Other than that that once during usual talks he said that his brother had left the family at a young to start his own business as he was an aspiring stage artist and it was through his own hardwork, Devin had started his own event company"

"Do you have Devin's visiting card"

"Ya, I will get it"

Aunt Sandrea went to her room to get the card.

After a few minutes she was back with the card and gave it to the officer.

"Thanks for this, will see if I can contact Devin. Isn't Frank back from work"

"No, I don't think so he would be back today, I heard him telling to Brian this morning when they met during the morning jog."

"Did Brian meet Frank in the morning" asked Sarah a little astonished

"Yes cause you know even I go for the morning walks"

"Ok...." said Sarah after a long pause

 "I didn't knew that so just asked"

"Why anything extraordinary about their meeting today" asked aunt.

"No not all it's just the words came out of me"

Officer Carlos stood up to go,finally to let them have their dinner 
"Ok then I take leave, sorry for the trouble. Let's see if I can find Devin, will inform you if I get to know anything new regarding the case."
Officer Carlos left and aunt turned towards Sarah

" What was so annoying to you about Frank and Brian's meeting, you looked a little uncomfortable"

" Actually I had told to meet Frank about meeting Brian in connection with one of his patient who belongs to Frank's town Maple and if he had met Brian, why didn't he tell me before leaving this morn. Maybe he must have forgot in a hurry but it still annoys me"

"Leave it, ask him when he's back tomorrow"

"No he won't back for next two or three days, he called me up in the evening to inform. There's some production date problem with the client and he won't be able to leave unless he fixes it"

As Frank wasn't home, Sarah got busy making plans for her delivery at Frank's home as his parents didn't want her to remain too long in such a gloomy atmosphere. They believed it would effect her emotionally which would ultimately effect the child. So they had decided that she would deliver the child at their place and had instructed her to leave the centre as soon as officer Carlos allows her, if she and Frank weren't needed for the investigation.
It was Saturday and Frank had called up the day before to inform that he would be home early morning. So Sarah woke up early and went to the kitchen to prepare the breakfast.

" Good morning! aunt Sandrea" saying Sarah gave a warm hug to her.

"Up early today! What happened?"

"Thought of preparing some nice breakfast for Frank as he would be back home today, he said maybe by early morning"

"I have prepared coffee, why don't you sit at the table by the time I get it for you and some hot cheese toast"

"Thank you aunt, I will wait at the table"

Saying she left to get the newspaper
" Aunt, did we get the newspaper today"

"It will be outside near the door, I still didn't pick it up"

"Ok I will go and get it"

Sarah opened the door to pick the newspaper but instead of the paper she found a parcel with her name written on it.
She picked up the parcel and went inside, at that time even aunt Sandrea came up with the breakfast.

"What's this now at this early morning!" she exclaimed.

"Even I don't know, I went to get the newspaper and what I found was this parcel"

"Open it dear"

Sarah opened the parcel which came out to be a file with Ellie's name inscribed on it and a small paper was tucked to it which read as

"SEARCH FOR THE LIGHT UNDER THE ROOF, YOU WON'T GO IN SEARCH OF THE SUN"

Sarah gave a call to officer Carlos to inform him about the parcel and he replied that he would be in the office as soon as possible. Sarah reached his office at ten with the parcel. By the time she arrived he had checked the cctv footage to see who could have left it outside her house. The number of cameras had been increased in the complete area that covered the centre to insure a better security and surveillance. 

" The footage shows someone in a black hoodie nearing your house and footage from another camera shows the same individual entering your premises, putting the parcel and leaving immediately. But whoever this individual is was clever enough to cover the face with a black handkerchief or a cloth perhaps. It isn't clear wheather this individual is a male or a female. The hoodie hides his exact physique so it's really difficult to guess his details. Moreover he was seen only in the parking footage. This person went through the parked cars then wasn't seen coming out through any other route. So the possibilities can be many like hiding in the car until leaves the parking area or completely out of the centre. Another chance is he may have changed his clothes and left through a car. We are trying to closely check the footage and get some hint to recognise the person. Anyways show me the parcel"

Sarah handed over the parcel and felt quite relieved after handing it over to the officer.

"I think so it's the same research file of Ellie"

"Yes, it seems so. I think so it's better if Dr. Brian checks it so that we can be 100% sure about it"

" But has he returned?"

" Ya, I met him at his office when I came" said officer Carlos.

He gave a call to Dr. Brian and requested him to come to his office. After about some ten minutes he appeared at the door of officer Carlos's office.

"May I come in?"

"Yes, absolutely you were required urgently so I thought it's better you come here rather than me running everywhere in search of you"

"Why, what happened?" Brian asked looking at both Sarah and the officer.

He put the file in front of him and Brian immediately said aloud,

"It's Ellie's research file, how come it's in your hold!"

"You recognise it, are you sure it is her original file itself"

"Yes ofcourse, she had shown it once to me but I was too busy to go through it. So I just gave a quick look through the pages and had told her I would check it thoroughly when I get time. She must have signed in between the pages as she has the habit to do in the original copy. Why don't you see for the sign"

Officer turned the pages and found Ellie's signature after around some every fifty pages.

He filled up Brian with all the details about how the file came into their custody.

" So you don't know anything more than that about the file"

"Sorry but I don't know anything more than that cause actually I didn't give her time during her research or while preparing the copy"

"Ok then I will have to send the file to the forensic experts to see if we can get information about any fingerprints or any other minute details through the file. You can leave now and continue with your work"

"Ya sure thanks, do call me if you need me and I forgot to tell you that Devin would be here tomorrow with his team who were going to handle the wedding. So you can investigate whatever you need to"

"But that wasn't needed I just wanted his whereabouts"

"That's ok, I needed him here cause dad wanted me to discuss with him regarding the family business and it was easier if he would be available here leaving his busy schedule"

"Fine then call me when he's here, I would be waiting for him"

Sarah and Brian left the office taking his leave

Outside officer Carlos's office
"How's Ellie's mother and when did you return? What took you so long?"

"She's feeling better now and I have got a nurse to attend her daily who would keep me informed about her health at regular intervals. I came back late night yesterday to be precise at somewhere near 2 a.m."

"Did you meet Frank?"

"Dear, I would have answered all your questions but I would be leaving again in an hour as I have some meetings with the pharmaceutical companies and need to get some new medical equipments for the centre. So before I leave for it I need to get some work done in a hurry. Promise to call you as soon as I am back. Sorry for now and give Frank my regards"

Brian left quickly waving a goodbye 

Frank was at the breakfast table with aunt Sandrea by the time Sarah reached home. 

"Did you handed over the file to officer Carlos" asked Frank who got to know the whole incident from aunt.

"Yes I have and now I feel quite relieved" saying Sarah told them all that happened in the office. Aunt Sandrea left after some time as she was getting late for her work.

"Why didn't you tell me that you had met Brian in the morning the day you went for your office?" asked Sarah turning towards Frank.

" Yes I had met Brian but there wasn't much important matter in it. He just asked me my office address and had told me he would be coming there and meet me. He did turn up at my office yesterday inquiring about Mr. Rode and that if I knew anything about him personally. I don't know that person much  so just I searched for his company address and gave it to him. I used to talk to him when I was here but that was related to business or our hardwid city. I didn't meet Brian after that nor did he call me and I got busy with my business issues. Moreover I must have forgotten to tell you about it as I was in a hurry that morning. What I don't understand is why do you take so much worry during these days when you should be happy. I think so it's time you go and stay with my parents"

"Dear I think you have also forgotten that we are staying here to co-operate with the investigation and not on a vacation."

"Ya I know that but you could take a break"
And the argument went on without any result but it made them forget the ongoing tense period in their life for a while.

Brian wasn't there when the next day Devin arrived with his team. So officer Carlos got his complete time for the investigation. He investigated each of them separately starting with Devin.

"Devin tell me how well did you knew Ellie"

"If you ask me how well I knew her then it's better to say how many times I have met her. Many times during the family functions including the birth of their child. She was present at every family function since our family came to know about their relationship. But before that I met her when Brian first time proposed her and they got engaged. It was during one of my events that he got the band to perform especially after the guests had left. He proposed her during the performance and they were engaged"

"How did you find them as a couple or can you tell us anything more that could put light on the case"

"I think they were quite understanding as a couple cause whenever I met them, they were too close and loving. Ellie was a rank holder and academically intellectual, far better than bro but that never became an hindrance in the competitive life. Both were busy with their work but never forgot to make space for the family. It was only bro who came to my office for making the wedding plans so actually I never got to meet Ellie before her death. "

"You did not attend the funeral"

"That's because I was informed by assistants a day after the funeral. I lost my cell during the show and haven't still retrieved it. You can check with the mobile company as I had called them to stop my old sim and get a new one with the same number"

"What about the wedding planners that you sent and I suppose they were going to come on the day of the murder to discuss about the rehearsals but they never turned up. That's what I got to know"

"They are the best in my team and working with me since I started my company. A long period of experience that's why I sent them but they couldn't come that day cause they were busy in a politician's wedding. You can check their wedding shoot or cctv if you need to check what I said is the truth"

"if you have no more queries then if you don't mind can I leave, need to attend an important client. You see it effects the business if you ignore some of the regular businesses. My staff will stay back with you till you complete the interrogation, you can take your time as per your convenience"

"Won't you meet Dr. Brian, he had said he would be seeing you regarding some personal matters"

"I wish if I could wait but some business deals are unavoidable so if you allow I would like to leave"

" I don't mind your leaving but I would be happy if you could leave your personal number so that we could directly contact you if we need you for further investigation"

Devin slipped his card with his personal number on the table and left some time later after answering few more questions.

Officer Carlos examined the card and placed it inside his wallet before calling for the wedding planners. He interrogated each one separately but nothing much came out of the interrogation. They said the same story starting from how their Boss started the business till the day of Ellie's murder. 

In the evening on returning Brian went to meet officer Carlos and by that time Devin and his staff had left.

"Was Devin's visit of any help in your investigation?"

"Nothing much but I have taken his personal number in case I need him again for further investigation. Anyway you were too late, I thought it was important for you to meet Devin"

"Not that important as much it was to get the hospital essentials delivered by tomorrow as the investors may turn up to check the advancement in the hospital augmentation. And about Devin, I can join him anytime later but can't keep the work aside"

"Ya that is the main part of the responsibility. But there's something else in the investigation that you would be interested in knowing"

"What's that?"

"Professor Krate was found  dead on his bed in his apartment yesterday by his wife. The post mortem report says it was a heart attack. No unusual signs that may suggest there was an attempt of murder. The cops are still interrogating the case so just being positive that we may get something helpful for solving the case"

" Brian, you haven't still completed the formalities related to the admission of the new patients and what about the old patient's files that you were going to give me today. You haven't even given me the bills or new vouchers, I have to recheck all of that before it's submitted to the clerk for the final entry in the register. Are you listening to me Brian, I am talking to you"
"I am listening to you....." 
" Brian, wake up, Brian" said Sarah a bit loudly shaking his shoulders.
 "What are you doing here at this time!" asked Sarah who found him again on the bench in front of Ellie's house.
"I think so I just dozed off was too tired, just came here a few minutes back after meeting officer Carlos"
" But still into Ellie's thoughts you should take a break Brian, it seems as if you are working harder than before. If it's to cover up Ellie's absence then it's of no use, cause you are still running after her memories and her case. This isn't going to help."
Rubbing his eyes and some what sleepy, he sat erect still not turning his eyes away from Ellie's house.
" Professor Krate is dead"
The words came like a shock to Sarah,
"Officer Carlos told me that he was found dead last night" and he told her all that he got to know from the officer.
"Now how are we going to find out about her research work or the file. We need to find other professors in the same department, may be they could help. Did officer Carlos tell you wheather he would be sending his cops to her college."
"Am sure he would but I think it's better to tell Devin to do that for us personally"
"How would he help!"
"Don't you know it was Devin who organised her convocation ceremony and that's how I met her, or that's how she ended up here for her PhD research work, if we say it the other way round. Though I was invited by Mr. Frair for the function but am sure Devin must be in contact with the officials of her campus as he was the organiser of the entire event"
